Belgium Professional Photographer works for fashion photoshoot
Bikini fashion photo session, casting and post – processing
In May of 2013 I was working on a photo shoot for a commercial outside of Russia. EMDI, company that makes beach clothes asked me to do a photo shoot for its lineup called “EMDI Summer 2014”. I didn’t expect that I would have to manage everything here in Dominican Republic while company’s management was in Russia.
A customer sent me clothes. I also had to conduct casting and sent the results back to Russia for final approval. And, that’s how it started. There were two models. First model was a Dominican native, magician’s assistant Stephanie. Second was a Dominican with Swedish roots Candy.
It is already very warm in DR in May. Sun is at its peak at 10 in the morning, shadows are sharp and heat is unbearable. That’s why I decided to wrap things up in two days. Each day on a set was starting at sunrise, around six. Sunlight was very soft and there was still some cool air left and models could work without sunglasses.
Photo shoot was taking place on one of the wild beaches of Bavaro. This place was unique in a few ways. It had white sand, palm trees that were leaning towards water, dead roots, thick trees. Also there were no huge waves like, for example, on Macao beach. This allowed me to make good deep water shots without worrying for my equipment getting wet.
We were even lucky to meet a cow and a calf. Despite the fact that they were on a leash, the cow was mooing and scarring Stephanie, because she had to be in the pictures with the animals in the background. It was interesting that both models showed up in time for make up in the early morning. It was definitely an achievement for a dominican.
In general, dominican woman have an interesting understanding of what’s appropriate. Sometimes she can easily cheat on her “novio”, dance reggae, and wear almost invisible, sexy shorts, but absolutely wont go along with a request for some more spice in the picture.
All pictures that were taken during these two days were sent to the customer for filtering and post processing. Hence, all work that has to do with pictures was done remotely. This includes casting, shipment of clothing, and delivery of final images via internet.
