How I Became the Storyteller of a Brussels Family
How I Became the Storyteller of a Brussels Family
It all began, quite unexpectedly, with a phone call. A woman reached out to purchase a gift certificate for her friend — a photoshoot for the bride-to-be and her future husband. From the very beginning, the connection felt effortless. In fact, it quickly became clear that this was a couple with a strong sense of identity and style.
For their maternity love story session, for example, they chose not a blooming park, but the striking contemporary setting of Kanal – Centre Pompidou. Instead of a flowing romantic dress, the mother-to-be wore a leather biker jacket, ripped jeans, and bold red lipstick. Interestingly, the color of her lipstick echoed the tones of the museum walls, creating a visual harmony that gave the entire shoot a distinctive rock-and-roll edge.
Following this session, one milestone naturally led to another. Soon after came their wedding, then the birth of their first child, followed by a second maternity session. Eventually, I had the joy of photographing the whole family of four together — including the christening of both their son and daughter.
And that is how our paths aligned.
Today, I feel truly proud to have been chosen by this beautiful and incredibly stylish Brussels family as their photographer — to document not just moments, but the evolving story of their lives, chapter after chapter.
